Memorial Day often kicks off summer travel and getting to your travel destination safe is always a first priority. But, if you're yearning for that Memorial Weekend getaway, but aren't sure where to go this year, we've got you covered! Check out our list of a few things you can do for Memorial Day, whether it’s a quick one-day trip or you have the whole weekend, try and make the best of it.

The beach- The beach is a popular destination for Memorial Day, and we understand why. The sun is shining, the waves are crashing and you have sand between your toes, and you can finally pull out that bathing suit that's been buried in your drawer all winter. Surround yourself with friends and family and a beach weekend will be set for your Memorial Day travel! Whether on the east coast or west coast, beach trips can be a relaxing day trip or a weekend getaway.

Local fair or event- Research your local events in your town, because chances are, there are many! Memorial Day Weekend is a big summer holiday which usually drives more travel, if you live in a popular city look around for local events and street fairs. Save money and stay local, you won’t be left out of the festivities of the weekend!

Lake- There’s something about being around water that makes summer more fun and enjoyable. If you aren’t near an ocean, then the lake is a great choice too! Rent a lake house with friends and family, make s’mores by a fire at night and during the day, soak up the sun, take a dip in the lake, and explore the sights around you.

Hike- This time of year is great to be outdoors! It’s not too hot (yet) so why not go out and get some fresh air this weekend? Bring the kids, dog, grandma, grandpa you name it, make it a family outing.

Relax with your loved ones- At the end of the day, be with who matters most to you and enjoy the beautiful weekend ahead. Downtime at home can often be rejuvenating. Take advantage of some downtime if you have a long weekend!
